They Came, They sAw, They Conquered

Today we’re officially saying goodbye to sAw and SunPayus, with our last match at the Austin Major also being our last match with the duo. The pair will be departing the roster together and continuing the partnership that they originally started back in 2022 in their next team. We want to thank them both for all of their hard work and we wish them the best in their efforts to revitalise G2’s Counter-Strike division - we’re sure they’ll be the spark that they need!

We’re glad we snagged SunPayus when we did as he’s been a key figure in helping take home the organisation’s first Counter-Strike tournament win in 686 days, bagging a LAN trophy, and qualifying HEROIC to our 7th consecutive Major. Despite his stint on the team being a short one, he still managed to rack up some nutty highlight plays whilst remaining a calm and experienced voice in an otherwise very lively team, which was no easy task!

And it goes without saying that we’re incredibly thankful to one of the greatest coaches in the game, sAw. In the year and a half he’s been at HEROIC, sAw has helped HEROIC make the transition into an international lineup, become a playoffs-calibre team and qualify to three Majors under 2 completely different lineups with making the quarter-finals in Shanghai being the icing on the cake.

His integration of overlooked and under-utilised talents like degster and tN1R have been some of the biggest talking points in recent years, and combining this with his stoic leadership and incredible read of the game it’s no wonder why G2 want him as the mastermind behind their roster-revival. We’ll miss you bossman!

With all that said, we’re looking forward to facing both Alvaro and Eetu on the other side of the server with our revamped squad in the upcoming season.
