HEROIC CS Makes Playoffs in China
published 27 October 2025
After a challenging previous two events, HEROIC CS made a splash at the CS Asia Championships 2025 with a semi-finals finish… And with a stand-in no less!
With the Budapest Major now out of the picture, the CS Asia Championships 2025 was one of the last three events that HEROIC had in the calendar for the end of this season. Unfortunately, Alkaren was unable to attend the event due to Visa issues so Polish Awper, hades, was drafted to stand-in. This took away some of the pressure of expectations off of the squad, but clearly hades had a lot to prove as what followed was a beautiful group stage run where HEROIC went undefeated, taking down B8, FUT and fnatic, with the stand-in racking up the highest rating of any player!
Coming off the back of a gruelling overtime victory over fnatic, the squad qualified straight to the semi-finals and got to play in front of a crowd at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center. It was here that the rest of the HEROIC squad picked up the pace, brutalising Legacy on their own map pick of Dust 2 13-2, with xfl0ud and LNZ posting 2.35 and 2.09 rating respectively.
Sadly, this form didn’t continue through to Ancient where things spiralled after the first half. A tied scoreline slipped away in the Brazilians’ favour after fending off a number of force-buy attempts by the slimmest of margins before pulling ahead to take the map with a deceptively convincing scoreline. The story was almost identical on the last map of Inferno, as Legacy posed too-strong a challenge in their second half and subsequently sent HEROIC to the 3rd-place decider.
Things didn’t go too well against Liquid in HEROIC’s final match of the tournament, but overall, it was great to see the squad make it back to the playoffs of a $1,000,000 tournament with some convincing wins and a 4th place finish, especially with a stand-in!
And it looks like this momentum has carried over as HEROIC are yet to drop a map in their first two series at the PGL Masters Bucharest 2025 Swiss stage against NIP and BetBoom! Tune in on October 28th to support the boys as they fight on for a clean qualification to playoffs and some more crucial VRS points in their penultimate tournament of the year!
