HUNDEN is back!

On April 30th, Nicolai ‘HUNDEN’ Petersen will have endured his suspension and will therefore be back as coach for Heroic during DreamHack Masters Spring, which will be played from April 29th to May 9th. The goal is to bring Heroic to the number 1 spot in the world.

One of the world’s best Counter-Strike coaches, Nicolai ‘HUNDEN’ Petersen, will be back on the server this coming weekend when Heroic participates in DreamHack Masters Spring.

On April 30th, Nicolai ‘HUNDEN’ Petersen will have endured his eight month ESIC ban, and he will therefore be able to coach Heroic again in the same strong way he did before the quarantine.

Nicolai ‘HUNDEN’ Petersen says

I am so excited. It has been tough sitting on the sidelines for eight months and not participating in the matches. I have spent the time refining my skills in the analysis part of the game but there is no doubt that it will take some time to find the rhythm again. On the other hand, the team has been working on getting better at making decisions themselves.

In 2020 he received 12 months of suspension from all ESIC connected tournament organizers for having exploited a bug in the game to Heroic’s advantage. Nicolai knew that he had made a huge mistake and reported the bug to ESIC, the entity that deals with integrity in esports. Following this, he participated extensively in the process of detecting and removing the bug and therefore, he had his sentence reduced to eight months.

The investigation process led to 36 other coaches being sentenced for having exploited the same bug and new initiatives have since been put in place to ensure that no one can use the bug going forward.

Nicolai ‘HUNDEN’ Petersen explains

It was the biggest mistake I have ever made but I am happy that I have been able to remediate it by participating in the investigation and improvement process together with ESIC so that we can get a cleaner sport.

At Heroic we are happy to once again make use of HUNDEN’s expertise and coaching abilities.

Chief Gaming Officer at Heroic, Erik Askered says:

Hunden is our boy. We have said that before and we will keep on saying it. He contributes enormously to not only Heroic but to the entire Counter-Strike scene. We all know that Nicolai made a big mistake which does not represent what Heroic stands for. However, he has not only accepted and endured his punishment, he has also worked hard to improve Counter-Strike so mistakes like this will not happen again. Therefore, we are very excited to welcome him back to the roster.

For ‘HUNDEN’ himself the goal is clear:

Heroic aims to be #1 in the world and we have to continue to work on the positive culture that the team has worked on in the last 8 months.

Welcome back, HUNDEN!
