Valde set to leave Heroic

Valde set to leave Heroic

Sunday, Heroic qualified for ESL One Cologne after beating BIG and Team Dignitas. The games were won without the participation of Valdemar “valde” Vangså, who was benched for the Sunday games.

The decision to bench valde was made by Heroic’c coach Henrik “FeTiSh” Christensen, partially as a consequence of valde being uncertain about his future on the team, but first and foremost to secure an optimal team performance in the important qualifying matches.

Henrik “FeTiSh” Christensen, Heroic Coach:

Of course it is never an optimal situation to bench a player and doing it so close to important games is not an easy decision. For me, due to the uncertainty, it wasn’t a tough choice though; we risked a less than optimal performance and lack of focus from valde and the other Guys, and I had to handle this.

Fortunately, we have a good relation with Casper “cadiaN” Møller, who was able to stand in, and I made the call. In this connection, I’d like to thank cadiaN for standing in and playing a great couple of games!

It’s impossible to say how things would have turned out, if we hadn’t made this decision, but the fact is that we qualified for ESL One through a very strong team performance, and that is what I am hired for. To help the team win matches. And I must say the guys did great and showed why they are a strong contender for the top spots. This past weekend proved to me, we are here to compete on the highest level, and I am confident, we will see this moving forward.

Nikolaj Nyholm, CEO of RFRSH Entertainment::

I fully support Henrik’s decision. It also means, Valde will not play for Heroic any more, and we’re working on a permanent replacement.

He is an extremely skilled player, and I would have loved to continue working with him, and help developing him as a player. In general we would never let a player, still under contract, go, but for several reasons, I believe this is the right decision for all. We will do all we can and work with him to find a new team.

Meanwhile I am very pleased to see Heroic’s performance on Sunday. It confirms to me, we have really strong team with extremely skilled players and I believe that Heroic will come out of this change even stronger.

Valdemar “valde” Vangså:

I could definitely have handled the situation and the timing differently, but in the end I think it is the best solution for all that I move on. I have always appreciated the Heroic guys and the cooperation with RFRSH, who is indeed bringing a new and professional attitude to the game, but even though we’re 5 very strong players, we did not function optimally as a team.

I take my part of the responsibility, and it was a frustration to all that we didn’t function optimally. Now I look forward to finding a new team and I appreciate that RFRSH will help out in this situation.
